Salesforce just put its entire CRM inside Claude — and says you’ll never need its app again

Salesforce Integrates Entire CRM into Claude: Revolutionizing Enterprise Software

Salesforce and Anthropic Announce Claudeforce

Salesforce and Anthropic have announced a significant expansion of their partnership, called Claudeforce, which places Salesforce's entire customer relationship management (CRM) platform inside Claude. This move tacitly acknowledges that the future of enterprise software may no longer require traditional application interfaces.

Salesforce in Claude: A Game-Changer for Sales Teams

The key offering is a plugin for Anthropic's Claude CoWork featuring 37 pre-built sales skills. It enables salespeople to query, update, and act on live CRM data using Claude without ever opening the Salesforce app. This product is available to select pilot customers today, with an open beta scheduled for September and more skills for other business functions launching in Q3.

"We're bringing together the world's #1 AI and #1 CRM — the best of both worlds," said Marc Benioff, Salesforce's chair and CEO.

A New Way to Work: Knowledge Workers Embracing AI

In an exclusive interview with VentureBeat, Patrick Stokes, Salesforce's president of applications and marketing, described this as a new way of working:

"We think that what this can do is kind of be a version of what Claude Code did for developers. We think we're about to do the same thing for knowledge workers."

The Journey to Claudeforce

Salesforce's Headless 360 initiative, launched at its TDX developer conference in March, played a pivotal role. This collection of APIs and tools allowed AI agents to interact with Salesforce data directly, without a user interface. Customers quickly adopted this approach, leading to the realization that a more seamless integration was necessary.

"Claude rose to the top," Stokes noted, referring to the popular choice among customers for agentic interfaces. However, setting up these integrations required technical expertise.

Anthropic's internal use of Salesforce through Claude and MCP servers provided the solution. The two companies collaborated to create a CoWork plugin that simplifies this process for knowledge workers, eliminating the need for complex technical setups.
